Spotlight Stamping Technique

You can find instructions in the April issue of Stamping Arts & Crafts.   This is a great technique for those large, detailed stamps that can be very time consuming to hand color all the detail.

1.  Basically, you stamp your image twice.  I like to use white or cream cardstock and black permanent ink.  One of my very favorite stamp tools is Evo's Acrylic Templates.  I hardly ever make a card without them.  They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes and I find a new use for them every day.  They are perfect for Spotlight Stamping because you can lay the different templates right over your stamped image and determine what portion of the image you would like to "put in the spotlight".

2.  Next, I trace around the image with a marker or pen.  After I color in the design that is in the shape, I cut it out.  Using the template again, I edge the design with a marker to frame it.

3.  Next, I mount the spotlight image right over the original image, being careful to line up the top colored design with the plain one underneath.

4. Mount the spotlight with some sticky pop dots for dimension and that's all there is to it.
