Beaded ATC  

  Note:  Micro-beads, Wonder Tape, Tidy Tray, and ATC backs available here.  (Info at the end of instructions).

  For the sample here, I used a photo that my son, Mark, took of a sunset over a lake here in Virginia.  To get the photo small enough for an ATC, I went to my photo print program and told it to print me a page of wallets.

  You need a card base that can be anything of “card” weight.  It should be heavier than cardstock.  For the example here, I used an ATC back by Design Originals.  It has a pre-printed label on one side and a smooth white front on the other.  I colored around the edges with deep blue permanent ink by Ancient Page.  I rubbed the card directly on the inkpad until I had the desired saturation of color.  This was done because the wallet size photo was not big enough to cover the entire card.  On the other example shown (Beaded Oak), I stamped some leaves on white cardstock in Sepia color and used watercolors to color the design.  The cardstock image was then mounted to the card base with carpet tape.

Wonder Tape was then adhered to the card.  This product is extremely sticky and strong and comes in sheets with a protective covering on top and bottom.  I peeled the corner of one side of the liner away from one edge and laid the card down, trimming around the outside edge of the card.  This left the card completely covered on the design side with tape.  The tape still has the liner on one side at this point.

I removed the remaining liner and put the card into a Tidy Tray (you can use a plate or bowl).  I then poured the beads over the card and they stuck immediately.  I rubbed with my finger and kept pouring beads and rubbing until the card was covered.   The beads come in two sizes and I used the bigger size on Beaded Oak on the right below.  I am ready to put beads on Sunset but did not realize I had used all I had prior to my creative session tonight.  More are on order to arrive next week, and when they do, I will post the finished beaded Sunset.
